Dr. Fouad Abou Chacra

Dr. Fouad Abou Chacra is Smart Grids and Power Systems Expert/Program Manager with extensive engineering and management experience in mega-projects with roles as Contractor (AREVA T&D, CCC)/ Consultant (EDF) / Power Utility (DEWA)/ Research (SUPELEC) in digital transformation, cyber security, control systems telecommunications, smart grids strategy and implementation, cyber security operations,  substation automation, regional and national load dispatching centers, and energy management systems in various countries.
 
Dr. Fouad is a resident of the United Arab Emirates for the last 17 years and a contributor to the development of its critical national infrastructure in electrical power networks through his services as an employee, contractor, or consultant to the Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA-TRANSCO), Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA) and the Emirates National Grid (ENG). He delivered outstanding vital projects and systems and played a major leading role in the smart grid, digitalization, and clean energy roadmap in the United Arab Emirates.
 
He currently works for DEWA as a Senior Specialist in Special Projects and Innovation, responsible for building innovation capabilities and implementing projects around emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, immersive technologies, and enterprise architecture.
 
With proven experience in consultancy, contracting, research, and teaching electrical and power systems engineering, he has more than 35 publications on Immersive Technologies, Innovation, Smart Grids, Automation, System Virtualization, Substations, Process Improvement, Wide Area Monitoring Systems, Energy Storage in international journals and conferences.
