It’s becoming the talk of the UAE’s engineering community!   

In recognition of the pivotal role that Engineers have constantly played in the sustainable growth and progress of the nation, the Society of Engineers – UEA has taken an initiative to create the Excellence and Creative Engineering Award (ECEA). 

In a nutshell, the Excellence and Creative Engineering Award (ECEA ) aims to motivate engineers and inspire them to innovate, invent and develop their work. ECEA also sheds light on the best innovative engineering practices, attempting to benefit from them and activate their role in light of the development of engineering projects in various engineering fields across the UAE (civil, architectural, electromechanical, and others). 

 
Launched in the first phase within the United Arab Emirates, the Excellence and Creative Engineering Award has a plan to expand its scope to include the participation of countries across the globe.  

That being the case, it’s now the time to dive deeper into the categories of  ECEA. 

ECEA | Categories & Sub-categories 

In recognition of excellence, the Society of Engineers – UAE grants 4 categories of CORPORATE awards as well as 4 categories of INDIVIDUALS awards.   

The categories of Corporate awards are: 

1. Pioneering Engineering Project 

2. Best Engineering services or consultancy company 

3. Best Construction company 

4. Best Industrial Company / Corporation 

First – The Pioneering Engineering Project 

The Pioneering Engineering Project is an award dedicated to honoring the best engineering project  that meets the following criteria:​ 

• The project has been implemented in the United Arab Emirates within the past 3 years.​ 

• Achieving the project’s planned objectives (quality, time, cost…etc.).​ 

• The project meets the highest sustainability standards.​ 

• Using modern technologies and innovative practices in project planning, design, implementation, and management.​ 

• The added value and quality of the project are clarified.​ 

Second — The Best Engineering Services or Consultancy Company 

The Best Engineering Services or Consultancy Company is an award granted to one of the engineering services or consulting companies in the UAE as a result of a competitive process and meets the following criteria:​ 

• The company has a main or regional headquarters in the United Arab Emirates ​ 

• A clear strategy and vision ​ 

• The company provides added value in the UAE and has a percentage of Emiratis in the company ​ 

• Innovation and creativity ​ 

• Compliance with the highest sustainability standards ​ 

Third — The Best Construction company 

The Best Construction Company award is granted to one of the construction companies in the UAE (prime contractor or subcontractor) as a result of a competitive process based on the following criteria: ​ 

• The company should have its main or regional headquarters in the United Arab Emirates ​ 

• A clear strategy and vision ​ 

• The company provides added value in UAE and has a percentage of Emiratis in the company ​ 

• Innovation and creativity ​ 

• Compliance with the highest sustainability standards ​ 

Fourth — The Best Industrial Company / Corporation 

The Best Industrial Company / Corporation is an award granted to one of the engineering services or consulting companies in the UAE as a result of a competitive process​ after meeting the following criteria:​ 

• The company has a main or regional headquarters in the United Arab Emirates​ 

• A clear strategy and vision​ 

• The company provides added value in the UAE and has a percentage of Emiratis in the company​ 

• Innovation and creativity​ 

• Compliance with the highest sustainability standards​ 

On the other hand, The INDIVIDUALS categories are: 

1. Leading Personnel Award 

2. Outstanding Engineer Award 

3. Future Engineer Award 

4. Outstanding Student Award 

First — The Leading Personnel Award  

The Leading Personnel Award is granted to a leading Emirati figure for supporting engineering work in the country and has distinguished contributions. ​ 

Second — The Outstanding Engineer Award 

The Outstanding Engineer Award is granted according to the following criteria: ​ 

• The candidate must be a UAE national or a resident for at least ten years​ 

• The candidate should have a record of achievements in the engineering field in the country​ 

• The candidate has used innovative methods and smart techniques in the projects ​ 

• Highlighting the positive impact of his contributions in the engineering field​ 

Third — The Future Engineer Award 

The Future Engineer Award is granted to young Emirati engineers who have distinguished themselves over their peers in their respective fields and contributed to advancing innovation by designing and implementing pioneering projects that have had a distinct impact and yield, in addition to meeting the following criteria: ​ 

• The candidate’s age should not be more than 35 years old. ​ 

• The candidate should have an excellent record of achievements in the engineering field. ​ 

• The candidate should have outstanding contributions to community service in his field of specialization. ​ 

Fourth— The Outstanding Student Award 

The Outstanding Student Award is granted to the best outstanding student in an engineering college to boost the spirit of competition and innovation among students and the new generation of engineers in addition to meeting the following criteria: ​ 

• The candidate should be a student enrolled in an engineering college approved/licensed by the Ministry of Education or a recent graduate in the same year of the award.​ 

• The candidate should be an undergraduate student (bachelor’s or higher diploma).​ 

• The candidate should submit a record of achievements and innovative solutions in the field of specialization as well as social contributions documented by the university or training entity.​ 

• The student must submit a recommendation letter from the university.​

• 09 September 2022 - Deadline for receiving applications 

• 19 September 2022 - Evaluation phase 

• 02 November 2022 - Select the winners 

• 16 November 2022 - Award Ceremony
